  • Hourly rate: £35-£40 per hour
  • Length of role: Initial 3-6 months.

We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Housing Repairs team. This role involves comprehensive in-house technical surveying and inspection across a range of council homes and public buildings. The successful candidate will ensure that our housing stock and public buildings are maintained to a high standard, providing specialist technical advice and support to various teams within the council.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct pre-inspection, during works inspection, post-inspection, and quality control checks for various repair and maintenance works.
  • Oversee projects, liaising with the Contract or Repairs Manager regarding any concerns.
  • Undertake property building surveys, identify potential defects, and specify necessary remedial actions in accordance with council policies and standards.
  • Prepare specifications for remedial works for both domestic homes and public buildings.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures by service providers.
  • Monitor site safety processes, method statements, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Collaborate with contractors, organizing and coordinating works, and ensuring all necessary information is provided.
  • Provide technical and project planning information to support efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Deputise for the Repairs or Contracts Manager during their absence, overseeing and coordinating service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • RICS accredited degree or equivalent.
  • Satisfied RICS Assessment of Professional Competence.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in surveying domestic properties and diagnosing faults.
  • At least 3 years experience in surveying for a social housing provider.
  • Demonstrable experience in surveying public buildings and contractor management.
  • Experience in managing property-related project budgets and planned property maintenance.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and communicate complex information effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
