About the Client:
Our client is a reputable and growing construction company based in Takeley, dedicated to delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join the team and manage the financial operations of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:

Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.

Process invoices, purchase orders, and payments, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Manage payroll for staff and contractors, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
Reconciliations:

Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and supplier accounts regularly.

Ensure accurate end-of-month and year-end reconciliations.
Reporting:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.

Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights to support decision-making.
VAT and Tax Compliance:

Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC regulations.

Liaise with accountants for year-end financial submissions and audits.
Administrative Support:

Maintain and organize financial documents and records, both digitally and physically.

Support the team with ad hoc administrative tasks as required.
Requirements:

Proven experience in bookkeeping, ideally within the construction industry.

Familiarity with construction-specific financial processes, such as CIS (Construction Industry Scheme), is advantageous.

AAT qualification or equivalent is preferred but not essential with relevant experience.

Proficient in Sage accounting software.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
